Drake White

'Stars' EP Review

Excerpt from bio:- To listen to Drake White’s music is to fully experience the soul and rhythm of his upbringing in the Appalachian foothills of Northeastern Alabama.

The undeniable sound of his soulful voice has whipped concert audiences across the country into a frenzy as Drake and his band, The Big Fire, raise the roof and summon spirits to life onstage. It’s equal parts Baptist tent revival and amped-up southern rock festival. As you watch Drake crank the energy level up higher and higher throughout the night, you feel as if you’d walked in on a live gospel album backed up by all-stars from The Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Of course those acts hit musical pay dirt recording in Muscle Shoals, Alabama in the late ‘60s and ‘70s, a little over two hours west of Drake’s tiny hometown of Hokes Bluff.

Track list:-

1. 'Luckiest Man'

2. 'Mix 'Em With Whiskey'

3. 'Eat, Drink & Dream'

4. 'My Favorite Band'

5. 'All Would Be Right With The World'

This latest EP 'Stars' from Drake White, is a welcome musical addition in these dark times, and being produced by The Cadillac Three's very own Jaren Johnston, you know it's gonna be a good one.

We start with 'Luckiest Man' which has a wonderful soulful and chilled vibe with Drake's amazing voice delivering this love song perfectly to kick us off, before we are hit with 'Mix 'Em With Whiskey', which is another that has a cool and laid back vibe that just leaves that warm feeling inside when you listen.

'Eat, Drink & Dream' has a more up tempo beat and there is no doubt this is Drake White, lots of lyrics and a fantastic vocal performance.

'My Favorite Band' is another more up tempo tune that has that skip along vibe that will have your feet tapping and head bobbing all throughout. A beautiful description of his favorite band as well, and a cool if unorthodox love song. Last track on this latest EP is 'All Would Be Right With The World', which is as country a country song you will hear today, musically, vocally, story telling, all at the top of the class. A wonderful end to a great EP, and still one of the finest voices in music today.

The co-writes, the production and the amazing talents of Drake White himself has created this little stunner of an EP, and I would recommend anyone to go buy this and just give your ears some listening pleasure in these dark times. Available now.

TFM gives 'Stars' 5/5, wonderful comeback EP by a wonderful artist.
