Unknown Refuge

'From The Darkness'

This Bolton based band defy their years, with an accomplished, mature sound and performance that will set your fillings on edge. Despite their age this band gives a very mature performance that screams 'ROCK'.

Their first major landmark was in 2016, when their debut public performance earned them 1st place in the Salford Battle of the Bands. This resulted in a recording session at SSR studios where they produced their first recorded work "Wall of Lies" followed by a headline slot at Manchester’s iconic venue ‘Band on the Wall’.

Since then they have been making their mark playing prestigious Manchester rock venues, along with appearances on the local festival scene, and headlining the Friday Rock Show at the inaugural 2018 Stonedeaf Festival at Newark Showground.

Influenced by Avenged Sevenfold, Metallica, Alter Bridge and Black Stone Cherry, the band consisting of Alex (Lead Vocals and Bass), Jack (Lead Guitar), Harry (Rhythm Guitar) and Morgan (Drums), have steadily developed a loyal following and have released their debut Single 'To The Light' on the 21st Aug 2020. Their second single, 'Shadows' dropped on October 16th, with their Debut Album 'From the Darkness' scheduled for release on March 26th 2021. Unknown Refuge will have you rocking and head banging ‘til the final chord.
'If The Gods Be Good' is another track that would work on any stage anywhere, just a very good and infectious number where the crowd will be singing back the chorus, of that I have no doubt.

'I'm Not A Bad Guy' is just a full throttle beast that doesn't let up, in fact it gets more intense near the end.

'Journey' closes this debut release with a more classic sounding rock track, not as heavy as some that have come before, but a very well constructed and executed number to finish with. This has been a very impressive debut from an exciting young band.
'From the Darkness' brings us a very atmospheric and engaging opening before 'To The Light', gives us a taster for the rest of the album with its high intensity riff laden beat and flowing vocals.

'Kicked To the Floor' is another high octane fuel injected track with no let up throughout followed by 'Battle Hymn', the latest single release from the upcoming album, and this has a highly energised and frenetic opening before an anthemic sounding verse and chorus come in to the equation.

'Shadows' has the most interesting intro so far before the thunder returns for this head bobbing feet tapping number. 'Palace Walls' is heavy from the first note and this continues throughout this tune with a big sound that would grace any stage.

'Wall Of Lies' is a track that builds momentum throughout and has plenty of grunt and endeavour.
You can tell throughout this album that these guys have taken on board all the best bits from their influences and moulded that with their individuality to create this very strong and heavy sound with some wonderful vocals mixed in that when put together bring us Unknown Refuge.
An excellent debut release from a band that will only get better with age and experience moving forward, which can only be an exciting prospect for all involved and for all that follow them. TFM gives 'From The Darkness' a very well deserved 9/10. Good job fellas.... Home (unknown-refuge.yolasite.com)
