When Rivers Meet

'We Fly Free'

British husband and wife blues rock duo When Rivers Meet announce their debut album 'We Fly Free' will be released on Friday 20th November 2020. The first single 'Battleground' will be released on October 9th.

Grace and Aaron Bond release their self-penned album 'We Fly Free' following their critically acclaimed EP’s 'The Uprising' and 'Innocence of Youth'.

Their passion for blues rock shows through with an underpinning of traditional blues and classic rock. The duo have made a concerted effort to keep to a genuine, gritty sound using authentic techniques, including tube tape echo and reverb chambers, which have created a live sound that keeps a truly vintage vibe that not only has energy but is also a true representation of the ever evolving sound this duo produces.

When Rivers Meet show great delight that a Hammond organ has been introduced into some of the tracks on this album. This classic blues rock feel will transport you back in time while also inducing a contemporary When Rivers Meet twist.

'Did I Break The Law?' is a full on slide empowered powerhouse of an opening track with a strong vocal performance holding it all together.

'Bound For Nowhere' slows the pace with a haunting and melodic opening both musically and vocally leading us by the hand through this track with rises and fall a plenty, before 'Walking On The Wire', which is again slide dominated, before a bluesy and funky vocal performance from all throughout this powerful performance.

'I'd Have Fallen' has a slow start that seems to build without losing any of the intimate feel of the track, again a wonderful and sultry vocal performance. This is followed by 'Battleground', and as the name suggests, comes out fighting with a heavy and aggressive feel, leaving you waiting in anticipation for the track to raise the roof and explode.

'Kissing The Sky' is another with a real funky start that carries on throughout the track and is just a killer tune.

'Breaker Of Chains' is the first track where the lead vocals are taken by Aaron and it works perfectly on this track.

'I Will Fight' has a slower more haunting start accompanied along the way with a beautiful and thoughtful piano that lines the pages of the story being told as it unfolds. Thought provoking lyrics remembering those that have laid down their lives in defence of our country during the great wars.

'Bury My Body' is a fabulous duet with a wonderful harmonious performance. This is a beautiful track that I would imagine could be one of those powerhouse performances when sung live.

'Take Me To The River' is another slide driven rockin' number that will get those feet tapping and heads bobbing, again vocally led by Aaron. You could be on the banks of the mighty Mississippi with this song.

'Friend Of Mine' has a mesmeric sound both musically and vocally and is a track you will get lost in. Old school with a modern twist.

'We Fly Free' is the title track and hits us with a thunderous drum intro before soulful and sultry vocals lead us into a musical explosion that will lift you up high before leaving you anxiously waiting for the next explosion.

Grace and Aaron bring a definite chemistry to their music which works on so many levels. Vocally both are strong, and harmonies are just wonderful. It's fabulous to hear a few non standard musical instruments used as well, which altogether make this full album a treat for your ears. TFM gives 'We Fly Free' 4.75/5, an excellent and well produced debut album with plenty of musical variety for all tastes.
